Verna Bernice (Lee) Miles, 90, of Temperance, MI, formerly of Erie, MI, and Perrysburg, Ohio died Monday, May 22, 2017, at The Toledo Hospital. Born July 7, 1926, in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Bertrue C. and Clara E. (Loomis) Lee. She married Irving Miles on July 12, 1956. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1995. Verna’s career included 18 years at Ohio Bell, restaurant manager, dietitian for the Monroe Convalescent Center, successful home boutique bakery, and sales manager at Minnesota Woolen. She enjoyed volunteering, baking, gardening, hiking, camping, drawing, and sewing. Verna was a charter member of Sweet Adeline and sang in church choirs in three states. Verna also enjoyed singing with the Erie Dearies at local senior housing.
Family was very important to her. Verna always took the opportunity to speak proudly of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving children, Michael (Bonnie) Miles, Patrick (Linda) Miles, Larry Miles, Roberta (Jerry) Sherette, Michele (Brad) Miles, Jacqueline (Alan) Harris; brothers, Robert, Walter, Douglas (Katie) and John (Judy) Lee; sister, Emma Lashaway; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Miles; sons, Thomas and Dennis Miles and siblings, Forrest Lee, Charles Lee, Doris Steinline, Freda Smith, and Eunice Baumbarger.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 26, 2017. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Waterville, OH. Memorials may be made to Area Office of Aging, B-1 Monroe County and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio.
